If you have Abaqus 2020 documentation installed locally on your Windows PC, and it fails to search for anything ...
a. The default location on your hard drive is this:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Dassault Systemes Documentation SIMULIA 2020\SIMULIA Established Product English documentation
but the shortcut tells IE to access it like this
file:///E:/Program%20Files/Dassault%20Systemes/SIMULIA2020doc/English/DSSIMULIA_Established.htm?show=SIMULIA_Established_FrontmatterMap/DSDocHome.htm
... you need this later, but notice that I have my docs in E:, you may be using C:, etc.
b. The documentation MUST be accessed using Internet Explorer, nothing else.
c. You need to "allow active content" in IE, see picture below, then reboot your computer.
d. Next configure the Java Applet to enable the search feature, otherwise, you can't search.
-- run C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_271\bin\javacpl.exe
-- click "Edit Site list" in the picture below
Then, copy/paste the file location as follows
Then...
no need to reboot, it should work now, with search enabled.
It is messy because Oracle hid the "javacpl" and you have to enable each "site" separately even if it is a local file.
LOL
Abaqus installed documentation trouble with Search on IE
